Who this edition of Up Yer Bum Cabaret show is dedicated to…

Ben, a most wonderful man.

Ben and Nicola

Here Nicola tells us about her husband:

Ben would often talk about wanting his old life back.

After his shock diagnosis at aged 38 everything changed. He could no longer work, he could no longer eat what he wanted and he could no longer be the active person he once was.

The bowel cancer was stage 4 and in Ben’s words “there isn’t a stage 5”.

We quickly learnt about a whole new world of stomas, chemotherapy, CT scans and pain relief. Not once did I hear him complain. He was grateful for every treatment he could get to try and overcome the cancer. He stayed positive and strong but it was simply too aggressive. He died within 15 months of diagnosis, aged 39.

I will make sure that Ben’s legacy, his three beautiful children Lily, Luke and Lars always remember him for the wonderful daddy and husband he was.

I hope that the show can raise as much money as possible to fund further research into Bowel Cancer so that we can have more survivor stories like my amazing friend Debbie who is organising the event

Thank you all
Nicola

Nicola will be there on 17th November as our Guest of Honor.
